Under the leadership of the Jägerverein Neheim1834 e.V., with Noah Wolff as co-founder, the impressive synagogue was built in 1876. However, the quiet symbol of Jewish life was severely damaged during the November 1938 progrom. After this dark episode, its walls, once filled with prayers, were put to a more profane use as a warehouse. A new start was made in 1984 with extensive renovations that restored the synagogue's architectural splendor. In 2001, the former synagogue became the property of the Hunters' Association and was transformed into a cultural and social focal point.
In the hibernation of the surroundings, a warm world full of history and community opens up when you enter the former synagogue. Events, culture and contemplation make this a magical place that is always waiting to be rediscovered. Arnsberg's wintry streets introduce you to the beauty of this tradition-steeped region and arouse your curiosity about the cultural heritage that shapes it.
Against a backdrop of frosty air and architecture steeped in history, the synagogue today invites you to contemplate not only one bygone era, but also the living traditions that currently fill this place. A silent invitation for all those who want to explore the cultural treasure trove of NRW's past and present in a special way.
