The tour begins at the Spitzen Warte, one of the highest points of the Haarstrang. It leads westward, past restored windmills and wind turbines. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Sauerland highlands. The route continues past several villages and idyllic wooded areas, back to Rüthen.

Safety guidelines
An emergency stop system has been installed throughout the region (Soest District, Hochsauerland District, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe District, and Siegen-Wittgenstein District). You can find emergency stops, among other places, on the information signs at the intersections of the Südwestfalen bicycle network.

Rüthen’s former city wall, featuring the well-preserved Hachtor gate and the semicircular Hexenturm tower, invites visitors to take a walking tour around the historic city center.

Traveling by train: Take the DB to Lippstadt, then take a bus from there to Rüthen.
How to get there
By car:
From the north: Take the A2 from the Hannover-Nord interchange toward Bielefeld/Dortmund to the Bielefeld interchange—then take the A33 toward Paderborn to the Salzkotten exit, and from there take the L776 toward Büren/Rüthen
From the south and east: Take the A44 Kassel-Dortmund to the Büren/Rüthen exit, then take the L776 toward Rüthen
From the west: Take the A44 Dortmund–Kassel, exit at Anröchte onto the B55; after about 8 km, turn left toward Effeln–Menzel–Rüthen
