Körbecke
Körbecke
Like church pulpits, the bridge piers rise out of the waters of Lake Möhnesee and gave the bridge—which is the highlight of the tour—its name. You can start this loop tour at any point. Körbecke, the main town in the municipality of Möhnesee, is a good choice. Free parking is available at the Haus des Gastes, and after the tour, the town offers plenty of options for dining or leisure activities.
With the exception of the sections through the towns of Körbecke and Stockum, as well as a short stretch along the southern shore, the loop tour follows separate bike paths or combined walking and biking paths, making it well-suited for families with children.
The route heads east from Körbecke, through the fields below the Haarstrang ridge with a view of the lake below. Past the Stockum neighborhood, we turn right onto the former “Pengel-Anton” railroad right-of-way and follow it down to the shore. Here, the Wamel “Uferlos” beach invites you to take a break and cool off in the lake. The route continues to the Kanzelbrücke. From this romantic bridge, you have a wonderful view to the left into the “Möhneauen Völlinghausen” nature reserve and to the right over the Wamel Basin.
We cycle along the south shore until the Stockum Damm leads us back to the north shore, and we continue along the lake back to Körbecke. Once there, the newly redesigned lakeside steps are the perfect spot for a longer stay. Dining options and recreational facilities for all ages are all clustered nearby. From here, it’s just a short ride—unfortunately uphill—back to the starting point at the Haus des Gastes.
From the Haus des Gastes, head east along Küerbiker Straße. The road becomes Stockumer Weg and continues straight on through the Stockum district. After the village, we do not follow the bend in the main road, but continue in an easterly direction until we reach the above-mentioned railroad line, the Pengel-Anton-Route, where we turn right and reach the shore of the Möhnesee.Below the vacation village of Wamel, you reach the large "Strandbad Wamel" parking lot and keep left, where the Bahnhofstraße runs alongside the lake, until you reach the junction to the right to Kanzelbrücke . After the bridge, follow the forest road in a westerly direction until you reach Stockumer Damm. After crossing the dam, we turn left onto the lakeside road, which leads us back to Körbecke. If you don't want to take the detour to the lake steps, turn right at the traffic circle and follow the main road uphill back to the Haus des Gastes.junctions: 66 - 69 - 68 - 70 - 66
