On certain days of the year, the water level rises so high that plants and animals must adapt to a river-dominated environment. It is precisely this variability that creates valuable habitats where rare and endangered species find ideal conditions. This natural area vividly illustrates how dynamic—and at the same time, how sensitive—a floodplain ecosystem is. Visitors experience a landscape that visibly changes throughout the year and constantly reveals new facets.
We highly recommend the Möhneaue Naturerlebnispfad, which circles the Möhneauen for just under 3 km and is also accessible to people with limited mobility.
