The dinosaur fossil site in Brilon-Nehden is world-famous and a geological landmark. It was here that paleontologists discovered the bones of an Iguanodon in 1978.

In 1978, bones of the Iguanodon (tooth iguana) were found in a nearby quarry in Nehden. A replica of the dinosaur is on display at the City Museum in Brilon; the original can be seen at the State Museum in Münster.
